The central service department plays a key role in ensuring that patient procedures are completed in a safe and timely manner. This role includes the decontamination, packaging, sterilization, and storage of medical devices used in these procedures. In fulfilling that role, central service employees can be exposed to risk when safety policies and procedures are not followed.

What Will I Learn?
The Safety in the Central Service Department course introduces participants to the potential risks that exist in the Central Service Department of a Healthcare Facility and the common safety precautions that are taken to eliminate those risks. Participants will be provided with basic information on, and reasoning behind, the common safety precautions that exist to protect against infection and injuries as well as the resources available if an incident occurs.
Upon completion of this FREE CE elearning course, the participant should be able to:

- Explain the infection prevention measures that are taken in the Central Service Department.
- Identify precautions and practices the minimize the risk of injury in the Central Service Department.
