OR Requests in SPM - eLearning

Participants will learn about what OR Requests are and why they might want to use this feature. They will practice using the OR Requests list, creating an OR Request, acknowledging and responding to it from an OR requests alert, using the locate button, marking a request delivered and delivering items to the OR, and accepting responsibility for an OR request. They will also practice canceling a request, adding or removing an item from an OR request, and updating the ETA for the request to be fulfilled.

After you have completed the entire OR Requests eLearning, you can earn 0.5 CE credits from HSPA or CBSPD by taking a short quiz to assess your understanding of the topics in the eLearning.

    Using SPM in Sterile Storage

    Participants will learn how to use SPM in the sterile storage area. They will practice scanning items to storage locations and a returned unused process point and document delivering items to the OR. In the process they will see sterile warning messages for non-sterile items scanned to storage or the OR and see a quarantine release message and walk through the workflow for releasing a product early from quarantine.

    Building Case Carts in SPM - eLearning

    Participants will learn definitions and background information about building case carts in SPM. They will practice building a case cart with one case, building a case cart with two cases, splitting a case between two carts, creating an Add-on case, delivering a case cart, editing a case, and canceling a case. They will also practice removing a previous case from a cart and moving a case to another cart and learn about the Case List and the Items Linked to Case screen as well as what the case cart build process looks like if their facility has SPM’s surgery scheduling interface, ORi.

    After you have completed the entire Building Case Carts in SPM  eLearning, you can earn 0.5 CE credits from HSPA or CBSPD by taking a short quiz to assess your understanding of the topics in the eLearning.

    Using Configurable Workflows in SPM

    Participants will learn what configurable workflows are in SPM, why they are beneficial, and types of workflows in SPM. They will practice documenting an HLD workflow and a Liquid Chemical Sterilization workflow for a scope while learning about associating files, using interactions such as checkboxes, and documenting results.

    SPM Assembly - eLearning

    Participants will learn about assembly in SPM including how to assemble a product, how to use options in SPM when an instrument is missing such as equivalency groups and optional oneSOURCE integration, and how to add comments with their assembly. They will also learn about the Actions buttons on the Assembly process items screen, how to assemble a peel pack in SPM, and how to assemble a product by first scanning an itemized instrument (with ITM™, SPM's Instrument Tracking Module).

    After you have completed the entire SPM Assembly eLearning, you can earn 0.25 CE credits from HSPA or CBSPD by taking a short quiz to assess your understanding of the topics in the eLearning.

    SPM Washer Load Documentation

    Participants will learn about building and documenting washer loads in SPM including how to add items and tests to a load and document starting the load and documenting the end of load including moving the contents, documenting parameters and tests, and scanning the washer load printout into SPM. They will also learn how to document a task and how to run a testing cycle in a washer.

    After you have completed the entire SPM Washer Load Documentation eLearning, you can earn 0.5 CE credits from HSPA or CBSPD by taking a short quiz to assess your understanding of the topics in the eLearning.

    SPM Sterilizer Load Documentation

    Participants will learn how to build a sterilizer load and quickly and accurately document the end of the load using SPM’s guided workflows. They will practice selecting a sterilizer and cycle, adding items and tests to a load, and starting the sterilizer load. Then they will learn about end of load documentation including moving the contents of the load after load is complete, documenting parameters and tests results, and scanning a sterilizer printout. Finally, we will simulate that time has passed so that participants can practice documenting the result of a BI and control manually or using one of SPM’s ARi incubator interfaces.

    After you have completed the entire SPM Sterilizer Load Documentation eLearning, you can earn 0.5 CE credits from HSPA or CBSPD by taking a short quiz to assess your understanding of the topics in the eLearning.

    SPM Decontamination - eLearning

    Users who complete this module will be able use SPM to document receiving a case cart and scanning to Decontam receipt, scanning items to Decontam, and completing tasks in Decontam. They will also see and understand point-of-scan Needs List alerts when scanning an item on the Needs List to Decontam as well as product messages users might receive in Decontam. Finally, users will be able to complete a product workflow that launches automatically when scanning a product with a workflow to Decontam.

    After you have completed the entire SPM Decontamination eLearning, you can earn 0.25 CE credits from HSPA or CBSPD by taking a short quiz to assess your understanding of the topics in the eLearning.

    SPM Login & Logout - eLearning

    Participants will learn to login and logout of SPM, lock and resume their sessions, change their shifts and assignments, and change their passwords and user pictures. They will also learn how to find what version of SPM they are using, see more information about their computers, find SPM contact information, and learn to subscribe to event notification messages and scheduled reports.

    After you have completed the entire SPM Login & Logout  eLearning, you can earn 0.25 CE credits from HSPA or CBSPD by taking a short quiz to assess your understanding of the topics in the eLearning.

    Technician Training Program

    SPM Mobile Handheld Computer (MHC)

    Users who complete this module will understand some of the functions and benefits of the Mobile Handheld Computer or MHC. The MHC is a mobile computer with a barcode scanner and touchscreen, and uses an SPM mobile app. Participants will be able to log in to SPM on the MHC, build an immediate use sterilizer load, build and deliver a case cart, find a product, document a task, and scan a product to a storage location.

    After you have completed the entire SPM Mobile Handheld Computer (MHC) eLearning, you can earn 0.25 CE credits from HSPA or CBSPD by taking a short quiz to assess your understanding of the topics in the eLearning.

    SPM Technician Overview Video

    In this video we cover all of the basic technician workflows in SPM. We walk through logging in and out, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, using SPM’s Needs List and Find Item tools, case carts, product delivery, loaners, environmental readings, and OR requests. This is a great introduction to SPM for new users for onboarding purposes and can be used as a refresher for other staff.

    After you have viewed the entire SPM Technician Overview video, you can earn 0.75 CE credits from HSPA or CBSPD by taking a short quiz to assess your understanding of the topics in the video.
